A SPECIAL INTERVIEW WITH EHUD OLMERT, FORMER PRIME MINISTER OF ISRAEL
Date: Tuesday 29 October
Time: 19:30 (UK time)
Join us for a special Voices from Israel event featuring Ehud Olmert, former Prime Minister of Israel. This exclusive discussion will focus on the current conflict and Olmert’s vision for Israel’s future in these challenging times.
Ehud Olmert served as Israel’s Prime Minister from 2006 to 2009. His political career began in 1973 when, at the age of 28, he was first elected to the Knesset. Over the course of his career, he was reelected to the Knesset eight times. From 1993 to 2003, Olmert held the influential position of Mayor of Jerusalem. In addition to his tenure as mayor, he has held various senior ministerial positions, including serving as Vice Prime Minister under Ariel Sharon.
During his tenure as Prime Minister, Olmert led Israel through the Second Lebanon War, restoring Israeli deterrence and securing over 15 years of quiet along the northern border. He also worked towards a peace agreement with the Palestinians, notably participating in the Annapolis Peace Conference in November 2007, hosted by President George W. Bush.
Mr. Olmert recently published his memoir, Searching for Peace, which offers a unique and personal insight into Israel’s history, peacemaking efforts, U.S.-Israel relations, and the future of the Middle East. A forthcoming second edition will include reflections on the events of October 7.
This event is free of charge but we would be grateful if you would consider making a donation to JNF UK, in support of SafeHeart, an organisation providing specialised therapy for the survivors of the Nova Festival massacre.
