Our Work in The Negev

Israel’s first Prime Minister David Ben Gurion famously said, “The future of Israel lies in the Negev” and for the past 20 years JNF UK has been devoted to fulfilling his vision by building and developing Israel’s southern communities, enabling them to grow and thrive.

Our work began in the early 2000’s where we focused efforts on promoting infrastructure projects, education, employment opportunities, and environmental initiatives. JNF UK’s endeavours during this period brought about substantial progress, fostering growth and vitality in the Negev’s communities. To this day we are still promoting growth in towns and cities across the region by providing residents – both current and prospective, with all they need for a good quality of life.

LIVING UNDER THE CONSTANT THREAT OF TERROR

Since the disengagement from Gaza, Israelis living in southern communities have been living under the constant threat of terror. JNF UK has been a continual beacon of support for the residents in this region. We have worked with many partners on the ground to really understand what the residents who live there need. Our countless projects include renovating bomb shelters, building rocket-proof infrastructure, renovating and renewing kibbutzim, supporting leadership programmes, building parks, playgrounds and community centres.

TRAGICALLY THESE UNPRECEDENTED BARBARIC ATTACKS HAVE LEFT DOZENS OF COMMUNTIES SHATTERED. LIVES HAVE BEEN LOST AND HOMES DESTROYED.

JNF UK is working 24/7 with our partners on the ground to assess the critical and urgent needs. Once the immediate needs are taken care of, JNF UK will be there to rebuild communities so they are stronger than ever.
